Sandvik confirmed April 4 that it had completed its takeover of mine planning software group Deswik, a transaction it first announced in December 2021.
The OEM said Deswik will be part of its newly formed division, Digital Mining Technologies, under its Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions business umbrella.
Last year, Sandvik said Deswik would fill a value chain gap in its offerings, giving it upstream coverage and allow for end-to-end optimization solution opportunities, including the incorporation of electrification at the mine planning stage.
Deswik’s core suite includes computer-aided 3D mine design, scheduling, operations planning, mining data management and geological mapping.
Known previously as a privately owned company, Deswik will form one of three cornerstones in Sandvik’s Digital Mining Technologies division. The new division will also include Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ automation solutions and the Newtrax telemetry and collision avoidance solutions.
Financial details were not disclosed for the transaction.
